Nokia 1209
With so many features rich cellphones out in the market nowadays, I begin to wonder whether I can find any phone with basic function. In the old days, we only used our handphone for communicating.
Nowadays, various functions are made available to a cellphone. You can listen to music and radio, surf the web, snapping photo and use it as a navigational tool. Of course, all these functions come at a price and you will also get the associated bugs in the program in the phone once in a while.
Do the cellphone makers have any thought or considerations on those who just want to use their phones for talking only? Well, I shall say Nokia does make something close to what I am looking for. The Nokia 1209 is basic simple phone aimed at those low end users who just want to use their phones for talking. It has no fancy camera, bluetooth, USB, WLAN and you cannot listen to music or radio with it.
As I used my phone a lot during the past few hours, I kept on 
checking on the batter power indicator. I was surprised to find that the power was nowhere near depletion. Checking on the spec, I find that the 1209 has a talktime of 7 hours and a 365 hours of standby time. As the phone is designed to be used as a talking device only and all those other functions that use up a lot electricity aren’t available in the phone, the lifetime of the battery can be so long. Wow! this is the BEST phone for me as I just need a phone for communicating.
It is indeed a steal at USD50 as you can also use it as a flashlight. With the built in hand free feature and an easy to use menu provided by the 5 ways navigational keys, it further makes me LOVE the 1209 more. One more thing, dark blue is my favorite color.
